Malojian continues to develop in all kinds of ways. His most recent album Humm (2020) made the ‘best of the year’ list of critics across the UK, and prior to the pandemic he was attracting audiences and attention on an increasing scale with live performances in venues across the UK and beyond. His influences go all the way back to the classic singer songwriter era, but with the Humm album, he also leans into the future with an expanded sonic range, and has just created his own Style Records label. In solo performance he creates a quiet, warm intimacy. And that’s why the Carnegie Library seemed the perfect place for his performance – a space that leans on a hushed and studious past, but is in transition from one sense of glory to another.
